Leaf Project

Happy Wednesday Dragonfly Families!
The leaves are changing colors and beginning to fall. It is one of the best parts about living in New England. Let's capture some of that beauty! As you begin seeing leaves fall in your neighborhood or yard please have your child collect leaves that they like (about 15.) Leaves of all shapes, sizes and colors should be collected! We will be creating leaf animals like the book Look What I Did With A Leaf by Morteza E. Sohi. In order to do this, please prepare your leaves so we can use them for this project. If they are not prepared in this way, they will be too crunchy for us to work with and just fall apart!

·                     1. Soak the leaves in warm water for 5-10 minutes
·                     2. Blot the leaves dry
·                     3. Layer the leaves between several pieces of newspaper or parchment paper (make sure leaves are not overlapping)
·                     4.Put something heavy on top of the leaves (like a book!)
·                     5. Let leaves press for 5-7 days
·                     6.Place leaves in a baggie with your child’s name on it and return the leaves to school

Leaves should be returned to school by November 1st. Happy Leaf Hunting!
