Stratham Hill Park Reminder

Tomorrow we will be at Stratham Hilll Park celebrating our year of learning! If you would like to take your child home from the park you MUST bring in a note to school in the morning stating that. The request has to be in writing, so a note is perfect or a fax. Otherwise, all students will return to school with their class. Thanks for your cooperation with this! 

I can't believe we are already half way through our last week! I am so sad but enjoying each and every moment with the dragonflies as we wrap up this fabulous year. :)

Stratham Hill Park Day 9/15/16

Hello 2D Families! On Wednesday we will be arriving to Stratham Hill Park around 9:45. You are more than welcome to join us for the day or just for lunch- if you would like! We are in need of these following items for the class to share during our lunch at the park. 

cut up watermelon

small water bottles

cookies (checked by nurse Lily)

chips

Students should come to school with sunblock and bug spray already on. Students can bring hats, basketballs, baseballs, soccer balls, wiffle balls & bats, jump ropes..etc to enjoy at the park! Please have your child bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Every student should bring lunch from home if they are not ordering a bagged lunch from the cafeteria. If students are having a bagged lunch from the cafeteria, I must know by tomorrow morning. 

We can't wait to celebrate our amazing year with the entire second grade! We hope you can join us! :)

Field Day Reminders

Hello 2D Families!

Field Day is TOMORROW! We will be outside for the entire morning and enjoying fun activities together as a class. Please remember that the second grade is team RED. Students should be wearing red during this event. We also have red bandannas here at school to add to the ensemble! We ask that you send your child to school with sunscreen already on (same with bug spray). In order for this day to go smoothly I am sending a reminder of some important items your child may need. Please make sure everything you send in is labeled- even if it just written on duct tape and taped onto the item!

1. A towel- students will be getting very wet!

2. A water bottle- we will be active all morning so it is important to stay hydrated.

3. Sneakers

4. A change of clothes, including socks and underwear- we will be watching a movie in the afternoon and it will not be comfortable all wet!

5. Water shoes

6. A plastic bag for wet clothes

7. A snack

8. A hat

James and the Giant Peach

After Field Day on Thursday, we will be watching James and the Giant Peach as a class. We read this book during our fictional writing unit and the students have been asking to watch it ever since. This movie is rated PG. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me! 

End of the Year Important Dates

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend! Here are some important dates that are coming up!

June 6th- Grand Luncheon: Grandparents and friends of SMS students are invited to join us for our annual Grand Luncheon. Second Grade will be eating lunch from 11:40-12:15 and having recess from 12:15-12:45. We are welcoming grandparents and other guests into our classroom a few minutes prior to the lunch to see our classroom!

June 9th- Field Day: The Dragonflies will be wearing RED as we enjoy field day. If you would like to volunteer during field day please send in the form that was sent home in blue folders! We would love to have you.

June 10th- Field Trip to Great Bay Discovery Center: we will be going on our annual field trip to Great Bay Discovery Center. We will arrive at Great Bay at 9:00 am to spend the morning there. We ask chaperons to meet us at the Discovery Center on Depot Rd. Thank you to those who have signed up to chaperon, we can't wait to have you! This field trip will happen rain or shine so please have your child dress prepared, including- sneakers, raincoats, sun screen, bug spray etc..

June 15th- End of Year Picnic at Stratham Hill Park: All second grade classrooms will be hiking through the trails from SMS to Stratham Hill Park for an end-of-the-year picnic. Families and Friends are welcome to join us! There is an information sheet in blue folders being sent home today!

June 17th- Last Day of School: It will be a very bittersweet day and it is very fast approaching! I have enjoyed this year so much more than I could have ever expected! (And I really expected that I would) We will be celebrating our last day as a classroom family! I am so sad to see this wonderful group of people move on from the Dragonfly class but I know they are more than ready. We will celebrate all of the great times we've had and the incredible growth each student has made academically and socially!

Important Quick Note

Our Pirate Play is tomorrow, June 2nd at 6:30! Please have your child arrive to our classroom no earlier than 6:00, no later than 6:15pm. Students should wear their costume to school when they arrive at night for the performance. Everyone looked great at our dress rehearsal and the entire play went so smoothly! We can't wait for you to see the performance! See you tomorrow night!

In blue folders tonight there is a permission slip for our Stratham Hill Park Day that will take place on June 15th. Please continue to send in the lunch order forms if your child is planning on ordering a lunch that day. These permission slips are due on Monday, June 13th. There is also more information in your child's blue folder about the Grand Luncheon and the scheduling of that event.
