Wax Museum Information

Hi Everyone!
Our Wax Museum is coming up in April! With the launch of our new fairytale unit in reading, I wanted to send out some information about our celebration event! This same information was sent home today with your child! Please return the section where your child chooses their top three character choices to school as soon as possible! Once I have received your child's top three choices- I will send back who their final character is, along with a packet of information to help get your child ready for the wax museum!

The second grade will be studying fairy tales during the months of March and April. Our final activity will be a "Fairy Tale Wax Museum" on Friday, April 6th (from 9:00 to 9:45am for friends and family). At this time, children, dressed up as famous fairy tale characters, will stand "frozen" in front of a life sized painting. When a visitor presses a special button, the "wax figure" will come to life and share information about their character. Students from other classrooms will visit later in the morning.
Children will be reading a variety of fairy tales in class. They will also be drawing and painting the life size figure of their character at school. At home, children will complete the following:
1. Select a character to study
2. Read, or have read to them, different versions of the fairy tale
3. Prepare a simple costume

The first step will be to select a character to study! Children should fill out the attached form with their top three choices and return it to school by Monday, March 12th. Teachers will review these selections so there are no duplicates in the classroom.

So.. Have your dragonfly think of many, varied fairy tales they might want to study and ask some questions to help them decide! Am I interested in this character? Will other people be interested? Can I make a costume for this character? Can I find a story with this character?

All character choices must be returned to school by Monday, March 12th! As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
